Mobility Aid Practice Cases Complete the following for each case – Based on your previous descriptions of the task, the individual and the environment – What mobility aid(s) would you suggest and why? Which gait pattern(s) would you teach and why? What will you need to keep in mind when teaching your patient to use the aid? o Communication & instructions o Touch facilitation o Mood, fear, anxiety, motivation o ….. Cases Aunty Linny - Task: Walking with a cane on uneven surfaces outside Patient Details Injury Details 65 years old Injury – Total hip replacement on left side 1 year ago Lives independently at home No follow up rehabilitation Walks with a cane She as recently tried to increase her Hearing loss - finds it difficult to follow walking distance but is noticing that she conversation at a normal volume, especially loses her balance easily, especially on when there is background noise but is able uneven surfaces (e.g. pavement cracks to lip read etc). She is afraid of falling, becoming more anxious and finding it harder to leave the house.
