Give an example of a monopoly we studied in class. Explain how the example you selected is a monopoly. 3. What is an industry? The type of good or service being produced or sold by a monopoly. 4. How do monopolies harm ordinary Americans? They increase prices on their goods to unaffordable levels. 5. Give an example of a monopoly we studied in class that harmed ordinary Americans. Explain your answer. 6. If a monopoly is harming ordinary Americans, why don't ordinary Americans buy from a different company? Ordinary Americans don’t have the option to buy from other companies, because the monopoly is the only company in the industry. 7. What is a regulation? A rule or law. 8. What is antitrust law? Laws designed to stop monopolies from harming ordinary Americans (workers, small business owners, and consumers) 9. Why is antitrust law important? To stop monopolies from destroying small businesses and abusing workers and consumers. 10.What is lobbying? Giving money to politicians to influence the laws they create and support.
