How to install MEMOQ 1. Download the latest version of MemoQ Translator Pro: https://www.memoq.com/downlo ads How to install MEMOQ 2. Install the file on your PC If you see this screen, ask your PM or Lead for admin credentials. If the screen is not there, go to step 2.3. How to install MEMOQ 3. Ask your lead for your username and password 1 2 3 How to use MEMOQ Finding a project 1. Launch MemoQ 2. Click on Check out a project from MemoQ server How to use MEMOQ Finding a project 3. Insert server memoq.usspeaking.com 4. You can filter by name, creation date or deadline 5. Click on the project you want to work on and click “check out project”. 6. Double click to open the file MemoQ for LQA Best practices IMPORTANT • • • • Before changing anything, please make sure you are following the glossary and checklist provided. If unsure, please ask your Lead Try not to change old or core strings that have been in-game for a long time, as they can confuse the user. If you think a change is needed, ask your Lead first Should a linguistic error affect more than 15 strings, it is necessary to consult with a PM first After the LQA round has ended, the MemoQ text file with all your changes will be exported and sent back to the client. Search in Target If you find something in game that doesn’t look right or you want to investigate further, you can look it up in your own language using TARGET 2. Search in Source You can also look up strings in the To narrow down your search, you can type in keywords MemoQ shows all sentences containing these words. MemoQ for LQA Search 3. Start a new search To start a new search, always click on CANCEL SEARCH button (the magnifying glass with a cross). Otherwise, it won’t work! NOTE: This action will also show the strings that come before and after the one you just searched. MemoQ for LQA Search 4. Search by String ID If you need to search by string ID, click on the cog icon and then tick Include context IDs. Search with a specific ID either in SOURCE or TARGET language. 5. Search using Casesensitive Case sensitive treats lowercase and uppercase letters differently. Very useful when searching for MemoQ for LQA Making Changes 1. Make a change After making a change, you need to confirm the segment using: CTRL+ENTER You can confirm per string or select several at once. Note: The right column with % will become greenand add a tick when the change is implemented. MemoQ for LQA Making Changes 2. Revert a change Select a string, then Right click > Row History: A pop-up window will show the last version of the string. Right click again on the segment and choose Restore selected version 1 2 MemoQ for LQA Sorting These filters allow you to sort the strings by Row status (confirmed & unconfirmed), Last changed or even by Alphabetical order It’s also useful to track the last changes made. MemoQ for LQA Check other languages Search for a word and click HTML preview to see the translation in other languages. MemoQ for LQA Synchronise and close 1. Synchronise: Choose Documents on the top tabs, then Synchronize and click on Synchronize Project. Please synchronize from time to time during the day to make sure no changes are lost 2. Close MemoQ: Always synchronize before closing. On the round’s last day, a deadline will be set for the Leads to export the project. All changes need to be implemented, confirmed and synchronized by that time. MEMOQ for Translation Overview These features and tools are mostly used for TRANSLATING but they can also be useful for LQA. • Concordance • Select All • Termbase - Glossary • Track-Untrack changes • Find All - Replace All • Spell & QA checks • Non-breakable space • Delivery MEMOQ for Translation Concordance This tool is useful for consistency issues, as it will show how a term was translated in the past. 1. CRTL+K to open Concordance pop-up window 2. Insert the term in the search bar and press Concordance 3. Select Source+target to view both languages 4. Select any useful search filters when necessary MEMOQ for Translation Termbase 1. Choose REVIEW from the top tab menu, then click on Look up term to open the pop-up window 2. Insert the term in the search bar and press GO 3. Terms that are highlighted in blue are in the termbase (=TB),hence they’re glossary terms. MEMOQ for Translation Find All – Replace All 1. Choose QUICK ACCESS from the top tab menu, then click on Find to open the Quick Find pop-up window 2. Insert the term in the search bar and press on the filter icon to open the Find and Replace window 3. Here several strings can be replaced at once. However, be extra careful and check each string before clicking on Replace All. It’s advisable to click Preview and Replace first 4. Remember to confirm with (CTRL+ENTER) before closing Find and Replace window 1 2 MEMOQ for Translation Non-breakable space 1. To ensure that certain terms are displayed together in game as a single line, introduce CRTL + SHIFT + SPACE 2. The non-breaking space is displayed as a circle between words PLEASE NOTE: Some of these symbols are not supported in some games. MEMOQ for Translation Select All 1. When a big text must be translated or reviewed, it’s always a good idea to only confirm the strings that have been changed, and then select all strings 2. CTRL+SHIFT+A to select all strings and then CTRL+ENTER to confirm changes 3. Button F9 inserts tags automatically in the order as they appear in the source MEMOQ for Translation Track-Untrack 1. To see the changes made, choose REVIEW from the top tab menu, then click on Track changes, they will be displayed in red as shown in the picture 2. To record those changes silently, so the red letters disappear, click on Final MEMOQ for Translation Spell & QA 1. To run a Spell check, choose TRANSLATION on the top tab menu and click on Spelling/Grammar, a pop-up window will appear 2. To run a QA check, the REVIEW tab and click on Quality Assurance. CRTL+SPACE while in pop-up window to mark as false positive and move to the next entry MEMOQ for Translation Delivery 1. To finish your review or translation, close the document to go back to the section where the documents can be selected. With the desired document selected, click on PROJECT on the top tab menu 2. To deliver the translation, click on the DELIVERY button and confirm by clicking on YES THANK YOU We want to keep this guide up to date and relevant for all departments.
