The focus is an overview of the renal system, with structure and function of the kidney and a brief introduction to micturition. The patient is a recent widow and has a long- standing kidney disorder, prompting her doctor to set up living wills and power of attorney whilst she is cogntively capable. This patient will be reintroduced to students next week as her kidney starts to fail and she ends up on dialysis.
