MCAS 7 Second Trimester Notes/Reviewer Made by Chloe Mesina I. Linear Inequalities A. Keywords/symbols you NEED to know - You will not pass this lesson if you dk them lol 1. Inequality - A relation that holds between two values when they are different. An inequality may take any of these notations: >, 0 - Ax + B < 0 - Ax + B ≥ 0 - Ax + B ≤ 0 - A linear inequality is solved the same way as a linear equation, but instead of the equal sign (=), it uses notations (as seen before). STEPS: 1. Apply API to the constant (usually found in the middle or generally whatever number is being added to the term with a literal coefficient) 2. Apply MPI to the remaining terms—here, once the constant is out, we're left with 7x and 14, so to apply MPI on that is to divide them both by 7 3. You can cancel out the numerical coefficients, leaving x, then divide the remaining numbers in fraction form with each other (7 can be canceled out, leaving x, and 14/7 can be divided/simplified into 2) 4. Answer will be written as variable-notation-constant/number (like x < 2) C. Graphing a Linear Inequality - A number line does not necessarily have to follow natural numbers—It can follow the multiples of 2, which is often used. - Ofc first of all, have the answer to the your inequality - In using > and
