Just the (Dictionary) facts A definition should include the information about the word and what the word refers to. Get to the point. Be precise. Be clear. Be brief. 2. Avoid complicated terms Avoid terms that are more complicated or more technical than the terms being defined. 3. Avoid specific terms Use conventional English words in explanations whenever possible. Stay away from jargon. 4. Avoid circularity It is not good to define a word with that same word in the definition, instead use different terms. Avoid using etymologically or morphologically related terms. 5. Make it simple Write with simple grammatical structures rather than complex ones. Place key terms and short explanations near the start of the definition. Are you ready to apply what have you learned? Activity 3: MAKE A MINI- DICTIONARY Direction: Create a mini-dictionary containing the unfamiliar terms that your group answered in the word search activity earlier, you will add accurate and precise definition of those terms, including its parts. Design your dictionary as creative as you can be. CRITERIA POINTS Creativity 10 Collaboration 5 Organization 5 Accuracy to the guidelines 10 Total 30 THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!
