I f no parts have to be replaced, in- spection o f the motor drive takes about 1 hour for a well-trained man. As various tests can only be performed with the motor drive switched on the power source major caution should be observed. I f parts are t o be replaced, the motor drive must be electri- cally disconnected beforehand. The inspection instructions apply to the standard model {electrical equipment according t o fig. 1). Otherwise these instructions apply accordingly. I n eritical cases please ask for our ad- vice.. GENERAL INSPECTIONS C 2.1 Protective housing Check that the protective housing is still rainproof. 2.2 Transmission gear Be sure that the gear housing is properly sealed. Check the oil level through the inspection glass. 23 Ground connections Check the conditions o f a l l ground connections. External: at the protective housing (fig. 2a) Internal: at the mounting plate of the thermostat (fig. 2a) at the general mounting plate (fig. 2b) a t the protective housing, tank and hinged cover (fig. 2¢) The ground connections must be i n proper condition t o connect ground lead and grounded part troubleproof. * 24 Control equipment Check the condition, attachment, terminals and wiring of the control equipment. 25 Connecting terminals - Check all connecting terminals of the terminal bar (screws not locked), max. torque of terminal screws approx. 5 Nm (for standard terminals). OPERATIONAL TESTS The operational tests are particularly covering the function o f cam switches for step-by-step c o n t r o l , t h e l i m i t switches for electrical position l i m i t a t i o n , the mechanical uncoupling i n the end position and the function of the motor safety switch during manual operation. Switching and uncoupling operation are referenced t o t h e zero-position o f t h e tap change in- dicating wheel (with 3 3 sections), i. e. the red mark in the green field of the tap change indica tion wheel is i n mid-position within the screen and faces there its center mark (fig. 3). 3.1 Step-by-step operation To check the function of the step-by-step control the push-button switch b2 or b3 should be pressed and remain pressed during running time of the motor drive (about 5 seconds). After the tap change operation of the tap changer the motor drive must switch off automatically. When the motor drive brakes d o w n , the tap change indication wheel must stop w i t h i n the green field. The test should be carried out i n both control directions with the hinged cover LS) closed. 3.2 Cam switches f o r step-by-step control For checking the switching moments o f the cam switches b 1 2 , b 1 3 , b 1 4 t h e motor drive should be operated by hand cranking with the red mark of the tap change indication wheel exactly facing t h e screen center m a r k (zero-position of the tap change indication wheel see f i g. 3 ). B y subsequently operating t h e m o t o r drive i n t h e same direction t h e cam switch b 1 2 o r b 1 4 closes after 3. 5 t o 4 sections past with respect t o t h e zero-position. The switch b 1 3 closes after 1 / 8 t o 1 / 2 sections from there. After t h e tap change operation has been performed t h e cam switches b 1 2 a n d b 1 3 o r b 1 4 and b 1 3 open 2 t o 1. 5 sections before reaching the new zero-position (for switching sequence see diagram i n fig. 4). This test should be carried out i n both operating directions. 9 123456 7891011213141515171819202122232425262726293031 3233 SECTIONS OF TAP CHANGE [IAI rgt I ITT TTTITITTTTI = INDICATION WHEEL % CAM SWITCHES b12/b14 J C A M SWITCH b 1 3 -2=1lp ONE ‘STEP N 1240.2 en Fig. 4 Switching sequence of cam switches bl2, b13, b 1 4 Fig. 2 Ground connections a external connection of protective housing (arrow 1 ) thermostat plate (arrow 2) general mounting plate connection of mountingplate and tank (arrow 1), connection of moun- tingplate and thermostat plate (arrow 2 ) protective housing, tank and cover Fig. 3 Zero-position of tap change indication wheel 3.3 Safety circuit T o check the function of the safety circuit the motor protective switch should be tripped and the motor drive be operated by handcranking just to the switching moment of cam switch b12 or b 1 4 whereas the cam switch b 1 3 should still be open (difference approx. 1 / 8 t o 1 / 2 sections). Switch on the motor protective switch and withdraw the hand crank from the shaft. The motor protective switch must b e tripped. 3.4 Electrical and mechanical position limitation After having reached one end position the motor drive must not start by further control i n the same operating direction as the control impuls has been interrupted by ti.2 leading cam operated l i m i t switch b 6 o r b 7. However, t h e motor circuit a n d control c i r c u i t f o r the respective motor contactor will be interrupted by the following limit switch b6 or b7 after the cam switches b12 or b14 are open again.. The mechanical uncoupling of t h e motor drive will b e reached after the electrical l i m i t position,- C ! i. e. 1. 5 t o 3 sections after the zero-position o f the tap change indication wheel. A tzst, therefore, should be carried out together with the limit switches b6 and b7 (see par. 3.5) b y operating the motor drive manually. 3.5 Limit switches The switching moments of the limit switches should be checked by operating the motor drive into the end position manually. The control impuls circuit will be interrupted b y the leading cam switches b6, b 7 3 t o 5 sec- tions before zero-position. ’ The motor circuit, however, w i l l be interrupted b y the (following) l i m i t switches b 6 , b 7 0. 5 sec- tions before t o 1 section after zero-position of the tap change indication wheel. T h e switching sequence of leading and f o l l o w i n g l i m i t switches b 6 , b 7 and the function of the uncoupling mechanism of the motor drive is to be seen from the diagram i n fig. 5. Check the function of the safety switch b8 during electrical operation of the motor drive. When the motor drive has been energized i n one control direction lift the switching lever of the safety switch (fig. 6) thus opening the motor and control circuit. The motor itself will be disconnected b y the respective motor contactor. After withdrawing the hand crank the safety switch closes and the motor drive starts t o r u n pro- vided that cam switch b12 or b14 is i n switched o n position. Therefore, no control impulse will be necessary to complete the tap change operation already started. 3.7 Motor protective switch Press t h e push-button switch b 5 and check, that the motor protective switch a1 has been tripped. The signal lamp h1 must light. This test is to be carried out also with the hinged cover closed. 3.8 Heaters The heater resistor r 1 is controlled by the thermostat e1. Turn the dial knob of the thermostat until i t closes or connect a by-pass wire across it and check that the resistor r 1 warms up. The heater resistor r 2 heats permanently whenever the motor drive is connected to power source. REPLACEMENT OF PARTS Replacement should only be necessa- r y i n case of failure caused b y a de- fective part. Before beginning re- placement works be cautioned to disconnect the motor drive from the power source. Fig. 6. Safety switch for manual operation (actuate lever in direction of arrow) 4.1 Cam switches for step-by-step-control (fig. 7 & 8) To replace cam switches b12, b13, b14 unscrew the terminals and bend aside the wiring. Re- move the 2 f i x i n g screws. During replacement procedure be sure to put i n place the presshoard sheets and, when tightening the attachment screws, to check the proper switching function of all cam switches. After re-in- stallation o f cam switches check switching sequence according t o par. 3.2. I f switching points cannot be realized, a new adjustment o f cams should become necessary. T u r n cams t o the de- sired operating angle after loosening clamp screws. Be sure to tighten clamp screws again after adjustment procedure, 4.2 L i m i t switches For replacement of cam switches b6, b7 unscrew terminals and 2 fixing screws (fig. 9). During replacement procedure be sure to assemble presshoard sheets between switches and prior to tightening screws place switches into a position that rollers touch just the cam lever {cam le- ver without tension). After re-assembly check switching function o f cam-operated limit switches i n both end posi- tions (see par. 3.4). The switching time can exactly be adjusted b y slightly shifting the limit switches after loosening fixing screws. h For replacing limit switches b6, b7 for the interruption of motor and control circuits i t is ne- cessary t o remove the driving motor (see par. 4.4). The limit switches can be removed after unscrewing terminals and fixing nuts (w.s. 16). Take care of washers (fig. 9). After replacement o f limit switches check switching function according to par. 3.4. The switching moment may be changed b y the number of washers put under the fixing nut of each limit switch. -Be sure that limit switches operate safely i n the off/on-position. Remount the driving motor. 43 Motor safety switch The motor safety switch b 8 may be replaced after unscrewing the terminals and the fixing nut. After replacement the switching function must be checked b y fitting the hand crank to its shaft. I f adjustment is necessary, bend slightly the lever pressing the switch button. 4.4 Driving motor Remove the wiring from the motor terminal board. Remove 3 nuts of fixing bolts M10 (w.s. 10) o n the motor flange and replace the motor. Check readings of motor nameplate. Tighten fixing bolts: max. torque 44 N m , locking b y lock washers. Check rotation sense of driving motor after re-installation.
