A systematic procedure for gathering select information about an individual for the purpose of making decisions regarding that individual’s program or treatment plan (Dunn, 1984) A process of gathering information about an individual in order that the most appropriate services may be provided to diminish or eliminate the individual’s problems with his/her leisure (Stumbo & Thompson, 1986) Assessment is the process through which knowledge is obtained about clients, and their functional abilities related to school, work, leisure and family (Whilite & Keller, 1992) The process or interpreting measurements for the purpose of making decisions about placement, program planning, and performance objectives (Seaman & DePauw, 1989) Key Assessment Features in Common Systematic process of collecting, analyzing, & reporting Gathering data about an individual Allows CTRS to make decisions about RT program placement Main point of activity: Once you have gathered the information you must ANALYZE & prioritize!!!
