Liver Biopsies @ Children's Items to be faxed to 612-813-6880: - Liver Bx order - Lab results (if done outside of Children's) - Most recent Imaging reports (if done outside of Children's) - Most recent MNGI clinic note \*Please call 612-813-8646 to confirm we have received the information, communicate urgency of the procedure, and date preferences from family (if any). We will review all the information and schedule the procedure, if appropriate. Once the procedure is scheduled, we will call you back with the details of the procedure date, time, and arrival time. We will relay any other information that is needed prior to the procedure (as seen below). [Requirements for Liver Biopsy] - Labs done within **30 days** of procedure date - CBC - INR - Liver Panel - History and Physical done by patient's primary doctor within **30 days** of procedure (to ensure the patient is healthy enough for anesthesia) [Day of Procedure Instructions] - All biopsies will be done at **Minneapolis Children's Hospital.** Check in at the second-floor welcome desk. - 2525 Chicago Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55404 - Arrival time is 90 minutes prior to procedure time for anesthesia work up and consent by anesthesia and radiologist. - Patients will need to be NPO roughly 8 hours prior to arrival (Children's preop staff make phone calls to families 1 to 2 days before the procedure to go over NPO details) - Liver biopsy procedures take about 30 minutes. We keep all patients for 4 hours bedrest after the procedure for observation to monitor pain. - Patients under the age of 2 or traveling from further distances may be kept overnight for observation
