GERIATRIC You will often have decreased dose due to aging organs, especially seen in medication administration with patients who have problems in the GI tract, renal, kidney, or cardiac issues. Polypharmacy is 5+ medications daily and the problem with this is that there is an increase in drug interactions and side effects. Table 7.2 very helpful for adherence. It is highly recommended to have the geriatric patient write down when meds are taken, Use an app, or utilize a pill organizer or container. Your goal is to promote autonomy. & keep the patient independent if possible. You should also always expect that they can learn.
