# 17-Table of Alloys This table describes different types of alloys and their properties. | Category | Description | Properties/Uses | |---|---|---| | **Monel-metal** | Alloy containing 70% Nickel and 30% Copper | Used to make coins, chemical equipment, and various apparatus. | | **Cast Iron** | Contains more than 2% carbon, also contains silicon, magnesium, sulfur, and phosphorus. | Strong alloy used to make various parts. A disadvantage is its brittle nature. | | **Steel** | Alloy of iron with a small amount of carbon (1-2%) | Cast iron is malleable and can be shaped by hammering, bending, and pulling. Strengthened by adding tungsten. Stainless steel (which is a type of steel) contains 74% iron, 8% chromium, and 8% nickel. | | **Inconel**| Alloy containing nickel, chromium, iron, and manganese. | Used in electrical heating elements. | **Note:** The table presents a translation of information found in an image. The original image included images of examples of the different types of alloys, but those are not included in this formatted response.
