SHARJAH INDIAN SCHOOL BRANCH JUWAIZA Work Education (Computer Science) Grade 4, Term 2 (2024 - 2025) Lesson 5 – Let’s Get Started with PowerPoint 2016 (Pg 55-70) IMPORTANT POINTS MS PowerPoint is an application software that helps us in preparing presentations that support text, pictures, charts, diagram, audio, video and animated special effects. A presentation is a collection of slides arranged in a systematic order that displays information on a particular topic. Slides are the individual pages of a presentation which are displayed one by one on a screen. The default file extension of MS PowerPoint is.pptx. POWERPOINT 2016 INTERFACE Title Bar displays the name of the presentation which you are currently working. Quick Access Toolbar contains the frequently used commands and placed at the extreme left of title bar. Ribbon is placed at the top area of the document which contains multiple tabs like File, Home, Insert, Design, etc. Each tab contains several groups of commands. Slide Pane – Displays an enlarged view of the current slide, allowing you to edit it directly. Slides Navigation Pane- It is a small window on the left side of the presentation window showing thumbnail version of each slide. Zoom Control Slider- To zoom in or out of slide. View Buttons are displayed towards the zoom slider on the status bar. Different formats to view the slides are a) Normal b) Slide Sorter c) Reading View d) Slide Show Page 1 of 2 To start MS PowerPoint, Click Start menu > select PowerPoint 2016 > select Blank Presentation or press Ctrl + N. A Blank Presentation contains only one slide with dotted rectangular boxes called placeholders. To add text in the placeholder, click on the ‘Click to add title’ and type the text. To insert a new slide, Click Home New Slide Drop down menu arrow, select desired layout. SLIDE LAYOUT- refers to the general arrangement of various components on a slide. It provides different ways to position text, images, and other graphic elements. Commonly used slide layouts include: Title Slide Title and Content Comparison Picture with Caption POWERPOINT VIEWS Normal View: default view where you can create and edit slides. It is divided into 3 panes- Slides pane, Slides Navigation pane and Notes pane. Outline View: shows your text in outline form. Slide Sorter View: used to see all slides of the presentation in a miniature form on the screen. Notes Page View: If you add notes while working on a slide in Normal View, they can be viewed and edited in Notes Page View. Reading View: useful for viewing the presentation as a slideshow within a window, rather than in full-screen mode. To delete a slide, select the slide in Slide Navigation Pane, Right clickDelete Slide To Save a presentation, Click File Select Save option or press Ctrl + S. To run the presentation after making slides, click Slide Show tab click Slide Show From Beginning, or press F5 key. ******************* Page 2 of 2
