🧘🏽‍♀️ Lecture 6: R4R-1 Aaron Antonovsky’s Model of Salutogenesis → The Creation of ‘Health’, not simply the absences of diseases → Operationalized it with the ‘Sense of Coherence’ [SOC] Scale Assumptions → Pathogenesis ⦁ Starting point; Diseases/ problem ⦁ About avoiding problems ⦁ Reactive [Rx/Tx] ⦁ Humans: Inherently healthy ⦁ About not getting worse → Salutogensis ⦁ Starting point: health/ potential ⦁ About approaching potential ⦁ Proactive [cause health] ⦁ Humans: inherently flawed ⦁ Develops capacity Confronted with a stressor, a person/ collective with a strong SOC will: → Be motivated to cope.
