Learning Objectives Lecture 4, 8-29-24 1\. Illustrate how solutions of weak acids act to limit changes in pH when a strong acid or base is added to a solution containing equal amounts of the conjugate base and acid forms of the weak acid. 2\. Compare and contrast enantiomers with diastereomers. 3\. List the names, three letter codes and one letter codes for each of the 20 common amino acids. 4\. Classify amino acids based on the polarity of their side chains using categories of polar, non-polar, and intermediate. 5\. Identify amino acids that have ionizable side chains. 6\. Recognize the structures of the 20 common amino acids.
