STRUCTURED SYSTEMS ANALYSIS Systems Analysis and Design AND DESIGN Lecture 1b: Systems Development Life Cycle Mr. Abubucker S. Shaffi System development Life Cycle: The SDLC is composed of five fundamental phases: Problems Definition Feasibility Study Analysis Design implementation SDLC Problems Definitions: – Collected from the organization – Objectives of new systems – Scope and size of the projects – Idea exchanges between developer and client – Plan for the proposed projects SDLC Feasibility Study Study the projects and find the solutions for the projects. Feasibility study related to technical, economical, and organizational aspects. Feasibility study estimated the cost and benefit of the projects. Contain the objective, scope, requirements, alternative solution and recommended actions. SDLC Analysis Identify the main operation of the system. Determine the requirement of the systems Analysis the existing (Current) and proposal (New) of the systems operations. Identify the resources for the systems. Identify the boundary of the systems. Design: Based on the user requirements and detailed analysis of the new system, the new system must be designed. Convert all the user requirements into design format. The design includes all the aspects of the systems from input to output of the systems. The design phase decides how the system will operate, in terms of the hardware, software, and network infrastructure; the user interface, forms, Implementation: Coding : The system is required to be converting into computer programming Languages. Testing : During the testing, the error should find and removed from the system. Documentation: System documents: User Documents Implementation Cont, Installation: Replace the current system into new systems. Maintenance: – Maintenance is very important to eliminate the error during the working. – The error must be noted and corrected that means review of the systems from time to time. – Updated the additional requirements into the system. Questions 1. Explain the different stages of the system development life cycle? 2. Discuss the importance of system analysis and design in the development of a system? References Joseph S.
