It is crucial to learn proper hand configurations to ensure clarity and comprehension. Movements Alongside handshape, movement is important in ASL. Smooth transitions between signs enhance understanding. Movements can recognize different meanings; therefore, practicing fluency while signing numbers is essential for effective understanding for better communication. How to Sign Numbers 1 through 5 Mastering the first five ASL numbers Number 1 Number 2 To sign the number '1', raise your index finger For '2', extend your index and middle fingers like a while keeping other fingers folded into your palm 'V'. How to Sign Numbers 11 through 15 Number 11 To sign '11', using your dominant hand with your index finger pointing up, while gently flicking it slightly, showing emphasis on the number. Number 12 Sign '12' by using your dominant hand (index & middle) pointing up, while flicking it slightly showing “2” Number 13 For '13', use your dominant hand to show “3”. Make sure all fingers are closed together to show the BEND movement towards you. How to Sign Numbers 11 through 15 Number 14 To represent '14', use your dominant hand to show “4”.
