It was officially created in 1923 at Vienna Austria with the name, International Criminal Police Commission, and renamed in 1956 with the name, Interpol. Its primary role is to enhance collaboration and cooperation among the police forces of ASEAN member states to address **transnational crime** and maintain **regional security**. **History of ASEANPOL** The first formal meeting of the Chiefs of ASEAN Police was held in Manila, Philippines on the 21 to *23* October 1981. **ASEANAPOL's Leadership Structure:** 1\. **Chairmanship**: The **chairmanship of ASEANAPOL** rotates **annually** among member countries.
