Lab 2 - Key Intermediate Microsoft Word Features: 1. Styles and Formatting Using and Modifying Styles: Apply Styles: 1. Select the text you want to format. 2. Go to the Home tab. 3. In the Styles group, click on a style (e.g., Heading 1, Normal). Modify Styles: 1. Right-click on the style you want to change in the Styles gallery. 2. Select Modify. 3. Adjust font, size, color, and other settings. 4. Click OK to apply the changes. 2. Tables and SmartArt Creating and Formatting Tables: Insert Table: 1. Go to the Insert tab. 2. Click on Table and select the number of rows and columns. Format Table: 1. Click inside the table. 2. Use the Table Design and Layout tabs to apply styles, shading, and borders. 3. To merge cells, select the cells, right-click, and choose Merge Cells. Inserting SmartArt: Insert SmartArt: 1. Go to the Insert tab. 2. Click on SmartArt. 3. Choose a graphic type (e.g., List, Process) and click OK. 4. Enter your text in the SmartArt graphic. 3. Page Layout and Section Breaks Inserting Section Breaks: Add Section Break: 1. Place your cursor where you want the new section. 2. Go to the Layout tab. 3. Click on Breaks and select Next Page or Continuous. Adjusting Page Setup: Customize Margins and Orientation: 1. Go to the Layout tab. 2. Click on Margins to select or customize. 3. Click on Orientation to choose between Portrait or Landscape. 4. Headers, Footers, and Page Numbers Customizing Headers and Footers: Insert Header/Footer: 1. Go to the Insert tab. 2. Click on Header or Footer and choose a style. 3. Add your desired text (e.g., title, date). Different Headers/Footers per Section: 1. Double-click the header/footer area to edit. 2. In the Header & Footer Tools, select Different First Page or Link to Previous to customize. Adding Page Numbers: Insert Page Numbers: 1. Go to the Insert tab. 2. Click on Page Number. 3. Choose the desired position (e.g., Top of Page, Bottom of Page). 5. Navigation and Find/Replace Using the Navigation Pane: Open Navigation Pane: 1. Go to the View tab. 2. Check the box for Navigation Pane. 3. Use the pane to jump to headings or search for text. Find and Replace Functionality: Find Text: 1. Press Ctrl + F to open the Navigation Pane with the search box. 2. Type the text you want to find. Replace Text: 1. Press Ctrl + H to open the Find and Replace dialog. 2. Enter the text to find and the replacement text. 3. Click Replace All or Replace for individual instances.
