CHAPTER 1: Carlos sees a psychologist (Pauletta Smith) who specializes in PTSD for the nightmares he’s been having. His family thinks he's crazy because of them. CHAPTER 1: Carlos sees a psychologist (Pauletta Smith) who specializes in PTSD for the nightmares he’s been having. His family thinks he's crazy because of them. They also have his mother in them who disappeared when he was only 7 and at 8 he was sent to live with his grandmother because his family thought it would help him. The dream was of his mother in a black dress, the last thing she was seen wearing before she disappeared. His grandmother and family really want him to see the psychologist to help but because he doesn't think he's crazy he doesn’t think it works and doesn't want meds. He's not only having nightmares but also feeling a strange presence. He uses painting to make him feel better. He told the psychologist that he needed to go to Chicago to find his mother because that would be the only way to help him. His mother had gotten an inviation to a party in a private room in the restaurant the Calaca Alegre. She had gone but never retured from that. The Fragos (Carlos family) had reported her missing and the police checked the restaurant and there werent any private rooms and checked her car parked in front of the restaurant. All her belongings were in the car and the police determined that she didn’t go into the restaurant. His grandmother doesnt want him to go and encourages him to stay, listen to the psychologist and take his meds. She thinks he’ll only find more questions. He thinks that she could still be alive because the police never found a body. Raimundo also thought it was odd that she disappeared and searched for her for years. He suspected Foul Play because they found all of her stuff in her car but after years of searching he accepted that she was probably never going to come back and was dead. After getting hungry they went to a taco restaurant to eat. after ordering they quickly eat so they could get back to the house because the family was waiting for them. Carlos accidentally bumped into a guy distractedly after feeling what he thinks is his mom's chilling presence. He goes back to the car with his uncle and notices a sign of a restaurant called La Calaca Alegre. Carlos want to go too so she made a deal with him to get him a churro the next day. she left and never came back. this weird his aunt raymundo's wife because she was very responsible so they called the police and they found her stuff but not her. he had been promised that you're out and was mostly sad about the churro but then he realized it was serious and felt guilty. his family wanted to declare her dead even though they didn't have a body they wanted the insurance money for Carlos so he could go to university. Carlos didn't want to go to the museum now because he wanted to go to the restaurant. his cousin said that he should wait because he shouldn't go alone and that they could take his sister McKayla to come help him. so Carlos agreed and decided to go to the art museum with his cousin they talked about Mexican art history and he enjoyed himself he later felt anxious and paranoid and that his grandmother may have been right. WORDS: fuera(out), fuera de Lo normal (out of the ordinary),quizás(maybe) Cada(each), Cara(face) llorar(cry) CHAPTER 6: it after they came home from the art museum they decided to go to the restaurant Carlos and his cousin. his aunt didn't think they would find anything especially because the police weren't able to find anything. but also because his mother had never actually made it into the restaurant and the private dining room never existed. The three cousins make it to the restaurant and they get seated at a table. Carlos has the waiter if they have a private room so he could celebrate his party but the waiter says they don't have such a thing. she suggests that he can ask the owner if he really wanted to know. his Primo suggested that maybe they did have a private room but it was supposed to be secret. The owner came to the table and they asked the same question and the owner said that they didn't have one but they could reserve a table in a section of the restaurant. they said I preferred a private room but they didn't have one. so they Eight Peyton left but before they want the owner asked if they enjoy the food and they said yes but Carlos got a weird feeling from the owner and felt a weird presence he had a really bad feeling that made him very nervous so they all quickly left after answering and went to the car WORDS: Tampoco(neither), propio(own), CHAPTER 7: They come back home and Carlos decides that he wants to go to the restaurant at night when no one is there. His cousins think he's crazy for even thinking about it but they later agree to go. They went to the restaurant and looked through the different windows. They didn't see anything out of the ordinary. While his cousins looked out their windows he looked out another. He was looking through the office window when he saw his mother walk in. In shock he stepped back and fell hitting his head on a rock knocking him unconscious. He was bleeding heavily when his cousins came. He is shouting that he saw his mother but when they look she isnt there. They took him him home so their parents could look at Carlos and decide if he needed stitches. They werent happy knowin they left without him, but he needed stitches and possibly had a concussion. CHAPTER 8: After coming home Carlos fell asleep due to the pain medicatons he took after his 11 stitches. He later woke up from a dream of his mother telling him that it was too dangerous to keep looking. He woke up and went to the kitchn where he found his aunt cooking lunch. She was very upet still from that night and did want to speak to him. Later his cousins came in but she didn speak to them either. When lunch was finishe they ate in silcne until Carlos asked Raiundo to come with him to La Calaca Alegre. This sent him over the edge and he got angry and told him that he wouldnt go there because his sister never returned and that Carlos was crazy. So Carlos decided to go alone when everyone was sleeping. CHAPTER 9: He was reading the archive again when his aunt asked if he was okay. He was spent the day in his room coming up with a plan to leave and go back to the restaurant. He planned to at night alone and go through an open window. He was going to wait until everyone was sleeping. This made his nervous and he thought it was dangerous. He finally left and while walking to the resteraunt he began to think of his father. He had never met his father and had no photos of him. He din;t know what he liked and wondered why he never helped his mother. He finally got to the restaurant and scared because he was alone and had no to help him. CHAPTER 10: Carlos got to the restaurant and found a duct to get in. He found his way into the kitchen and began walking around when he heard something. He felt something touch him and it turned out to be the owner of the restaurant. He was asked what he was doing there and he decided to say he was looking for his friend. The man was scary and was scaring Carlos with the way he responded making it sound like a threat. The man got agressive but Carlos managed to push him and get away, looking for an escape. He made it to the bathroom and tried to get through the window but it was either too small or the radiator was too low to reach it. He ended up in the attic and tried to find a place to escape from there without alterting the man where he was. He tried to find anything but couldnt so instead he needed to hide. There was only a small table with wine glasses and and freezer so he decided to try and hide in the freezer. He opened it and found his mothers necklace and (purse/shoes)? CHAPTER 12: Carolina wakes up around 4 and decides to go check on Carlos because he took medication and had a concussion but when she got to his bedroom he was gone. At first she thought he went to sleep on the sofar but realized that he was gone. Scared she look around the whole house and didnt find him. She went back to his room and saw the archives realzing that he went back the resteraunt alone. She called Raimundo in and tells him what happened and he calls 911 and decides to bring back Carlos himself. Carolina is against it and says they should wait for the police but Raimundo goes anyway. The man begins talking saying he knows heś in there but says his name which makes Carlos question how he knew who he was. He told him he could leave without harm and to not be scared. Confused Carlos asks how he knows his name when they both hear a bang before there could be an answer. Downstiars Raimundo is breaking the window to enter the place and find Carlos. The owner leaves to figure out whats going on and asks why Raimundo broke the window. Raimundo responds that he is in search on his nephew but the man says that Carlos isnt there and that he would have to pay for the damages. WORDS: subiendo, saltó, escondido, diablos, golpe, de repente, sido el sonido, pasa, asustarse CHAPTER 14: The man and Raimnudo are talking about the cost when Carlos decides he needs to escape. He wants to help his uncle though because he knows that the man is dangerous. He takes the necklace with him and begins to move through a hallway when it falls and the sound alerts the man and Raimundo. They go to check out the soud finding Carlos there. The man then got out a gun and pointed it at them and made them go up to the attic of the secret dining room - comedor secreto. As they walk up the stairs back facing the mana nd gun to them the police burst in and tell him to put his hands up. Raimundo shouts he has a gun and pushes the man down the stairs. As he was falling down the stairs the man shoots the gun which hits Raimundo in the abdomen. WORDS: navaja, cuidado, múeranse, pareció, savario, un fuerte disparo, diciéndoles, CHAPTER 15: Carlos goes home to his grandmother and he goes back to meet with the psychologist as per her insistence. When he gets there he lets her know that his nightmares, hallucinations, and chills are all gone. He no longer sees his mother and his dreams about his mom are only good ones. He goes through the past weeks events metioning how the man was actually Diego Guzmán. This man was his father and his mother died due to an argument they had regarding money and Diego taking care of his son, Carlos. This man ended up killing his mother and hiding the evidence in the attic of the restarunte. His uncle was fine and recovering very well after being shot and now he was painting murales in the art museum. His murale being the conver of La Calaca Alegre.
