Instead of clicking around with your mouse, you press keys to get things done quickly. Here are some examples of shortcut keys and their functions: CTRL + C Copies text or images to CTRL + N Opens a new document the clipboard CTRL + V Paste CTRL + Z Undo CTRL + B Makes text bold CTRL + Y Redo CTRL + I Italicize text CTRL + X Cut CTRL + U Underline CTRL + E Center aligns text CTRL + L Aligns text left CTRL + R Aligns text right CTRL + A Select all CTRL + O Bring up a menu to find and open an existing document CTRL + S Save CTRL + P Print CTRL + Moves the cursor to the CTRL + Moves the cursor to the RIGHT LEFT ARROW start of the next word start of the previous word ARROW CTRL + Moves the cursor to the CTRL + Moves the cursor to the DOWN UP ARROW start of the next previous paragraph. ARROW paragraph What is your cursor telling you? The cursor or mouse pointer is controlled by the mouse. It can have shapes. For example, it can be an arrow, a pointing hand or an hour glass just to name a few. Each shape has a function. Knowing what your cursor is telling you is very useful. The arrow means to SELECT this image. The pointing hand means this is a LINK. The I-Beam means click to be able to TYPE here. The hourglass means WAIT, I’m thinking. The 2-Arrow means click and drag to RESIZE this object. The 4-Arrow means click and drag to MOVE this object.
