SCHOOL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT OF QUEZON CITY F Sotto St. BF Homes, Quezon City PRACTICAL RESEARCH 1 Group Code: J2 Topic Proposal Form Topic: Understanding How Students’ Relationships are Influenced by Online Games Problem Online gaming has become a progressive method for various forms of Statement: entertainment, coping mechanisms, and a way to interact with people globally. This study dives into understanding the impact of online gaming on the relationships of the students in senior high school as well as identifying potential barriers that may hinder these relationships. Even though online gaming promotes teamwork and communication, there are various experiences and opinions that talk about its side effects. Gonzales Bueso claims that one of the most prevalent conditions among gamers is depression and this can affect one's way of communicating and forming relationships with others. Lawson (2023) states that gamers who play online games excessively, may lead to the neglect of personal relationships and mental health. Furthermore, this research aims to understand how the students of SHSQC—specifically senior high school students, and how their relationships are impacted by online games. Research 1. How do students form relationships through online gaming? Questions: 2. In what ways does the living environment influence the impact of online games to the students of senior high school? 3. How does online gaming shape and influence students’ social identities to be able to form relationships both online and offline? Rationale, Online games are becoming more prevalent by the day, and with it comes Benefits both new benefits and challenges. It is a part of many students’ lives, and and has affected their interpersonal relationships in a multitude of ways. In this Beneficiari study, we aim to further investigate the effects of a specific online game on es: students’ social skills and social life. This allows us to provide insights about how these platforms can be beneficial or detrimental to the way students interact with others, as well as the way others perceive them. Studying the students’ relationships makes this study important not just to the students, but to the people they interact with as well, most especially their family and teachers. Research Preliminary Survey - The researchers will conduct a survey to identify Design and potential participants from senior high school, preferably individuals Method: who play games frequently. This survey will gather information about the types of games they usually play in order to determine which game is most commonly played in SHSQC, and how gaming affects them. This includes questions about the emotions they feel while playing and if they have made friends through gaming. The researchers will also explore how gaming impacts their relationships with people in real life, how they interact with others during games, and how it influences their habits, personality, mannerisms, and social interactions both online and offline.
