**Introduction** Amazon Tropical Rainforest, which is located at the South American Plate (Brazil), is the largest tropical rainforest in the world, and it is fragile and vulnerable. (Shukla, Nobre & Sellers, 1990) The authors also noted that it accommodates virtually half of the world's animal/plant species and it is crucial for natural biodiversity. However, such a treasurable gift given by God has been demolishing by deforestation (clearances of trees over a large piece of land) in recent decades. The current rate of deforestation in the Amazon tropical rainforest is 25,000 to 50,000 km^2^ per year, which is relatively high compare to other rainforests in the world. (Shukla, Nobre & Sellers, 1990) Such a rapid rate of deforestation will adversely affect the Amazon tropical rainforest in distinctive aspects, such as regional climate and entire ecosystem. For the sake of the sustainable future of the Amazon tropical rainforest, which plays a vital role in the earth's ecosystem, this essay will examine the causes of deforestation, and potential negative impacts on the rainforest to raise localists' awareness about protecting it.
