Here are some key differences: Daily Activities Throughout their workday, marketing and PR professionals engage in distinct activities. PR professionals typically compose press releases, pitch positive company stories, and cultivate media connections. Meanwhile, marketing professionals dedicate their time to organizing product launches, developing marketing initiatives, and conducting research on clients. Audience The PR department communicates with various audiences based on the company's requirements. They may establish a favorable relationship with the media, stakeholders, or even employees. Conversely, the marketing department is primarily concentrated on engaging with customers and potential clients. Goals & Metrics of success When it comes to their jobs, the PR and marketing departments have distinct goals. PR aims to establish a favorable image for the company and foster positive relationships with stakeholders, while marketing aims to attract customers and prospects and boost sales for the company. PR measures success by generating positive attention, while marketing assesses product success through sales performance and ROI. PR creates a buzz, while marketing focuses on meeting sales targets. Marketing Public Relations MPR is a way for companies to create a positive image for their products through publicity and promotion. It can raise awareness and recognition for new and existing products, and reach specific groups and local communities at a lower cost than advertising. MPR should be planned alongside marketing for the best results. (Product Image Building). Public relations VS Advertising Public relations and advertising are two distinct methods of communication. While advertising is typically used to promote a product or service through paid channels, PR is focused on building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders in a more organic manner. Advertising seeks to gain public attention through various media sources, such as television or social media, while PR takes a more strategic approach to how a company interacts with its stakeholders.
