Ecological interior design program Ecological interior design materials GRC - GRP Prof. Doaa Abdel Rahman Lecture 8 Glass Fiber reinforced concrete GRC or GFRC: الخرسانة المدعمة باأللياف الزجاجية It is one of the most common and innovative materials in the world of construction and modern interior design. which can be treated to suit a wide range of applications. GRC is very versatile and can be suitably molded into wide variety of complex shapes and profiles. Installation of glass reinforced concrete (GRC): Consisting of a cement and sand mortar consisting of 2 cement: 1 sand, alkali resistant (AR) glass fibres with a length of 12 mm to 50 mm and a diameter of not less than 10-20 microns,. Fiberglass improves the mechanical properties of concrete and increases its resistance to tensile and bending. The basic components for manufacturing fiber reinforced concrete are: A.Fiber glass. B - Cement. C - Sand. D. Additions. E. Water. Properties of reinforced concrete with fiberglass (GRC): 1- The weathering factors are due to the strong cohesion between its granules. 2- It Can be manufactured with a thickness ranging from 9-15mm, 3- It is lightweight and easy to transport and installation and it can be manufactured similar units of smooth surface. 4- Light weight and easy to install. 5- Not connected to the electrical current. Advantages : 1. Light in weight. 2. Weather resistant. 3. Easy to transport & install. 4. Environment Friendly. 5. Reduces structural load on the building. 6. Suitable for long spans & curvature. Applications : 1. Villas. 2. Residential and Commercial Buildings. 3. Schools & Universities. 4. Mosques. 5. Hotels & Malls. Uses : GRC panels : - Grc Cladding - Columns : - Interior finishes with GRC: - Interior finishes with GRC - GRC can be used in interior wall cladding, and GRC has been given considerable scope for use in different roof types of domes, used In ceiling Used in outdoor furniture Used in outdoor furniture Used in indoor furniture Fiberglass hazards: If fiberglass is used as a reinforced material, the risk of the spread of these fibers during manufacturing, which enter the human body through breathing and injury and infections in the respiratory system, and therefore should be considered that the proportions of glass fiber and size conform to international standards. Glass Fiber reinforced Plastic (GRP) البالستيك المقوى باأللياف الزجاجية GRP is called polymer-reinforced polyester fiberglass and can be used as epoxy or polyvinyl chloride PVC, but the most common type of use is polyester. Glass fiber is used as a strengthening agent for many plastics. It is one of the most popular types of reinforcing materials. Uses: Fiberglass is used as a reinforcing material for many plastics. It is one of the most popular types of reinforcing materials. Glass fiber reinforced plastic is used in many products such as aircraft clips, wall cladding, door fillings and can be used in the manufacture of roof panels and some exterior finishes. It can be transparent or dark and can be used for door and window frames which are waterproof. Characteristics: - Produce any color including metal colors., - It can be transparent with acrylic resins. - Fire retard. - Its dimensions are fixed, do not stretch or shrink.
