It is defined as a blood glucose level below the normal range, typically ≤70mg/dL (≤3.9mmol/L). Maintaining appropriate blood glucose levels is essential for providing energy to the body\'s cells. Hypoglycemia can lead to various symptoms and, if severe, can be life-threatening. The brain cannot store or produce glucose and in resting adults the central nervous system (CNS) consumes approximately 50% of the glucose used by the body.
