Why Study Parenting HPC3O Why Do We Study “Parenting”? There are a variety of reasons why someone might want to take a parenting or child care course. Some people want to learn about parenting because they want to be parents themselves one day; other people may take a parenting course or class because they want to care for children as part of their job. Whatever the initial motivation, there are many benefits to studying parenting! To Increase Knowledge and Resources People need to know how to find information about child care and be able to recognize reliable sources. To Cope in a Changing world Rapidly changing technology and toys and activities adults would never have imagined during their own childhood results in more decisions for parents to make about what they will allow to influence their children. To Build a Strong Society Families are the basic building blocks of society. Parents who are skillful and knowledgeable have a better chance of raising children who will build communities, not tear them down.
