London Streetcar Strike- These workers wanted better wages and shorter hours, and their employer replaced its employees with non-unionized employees. New Immigrant Communities- Brought new languages and traditions different from the Indigenous, French and English languages and Traditions Manitoba’s School Question- They allowed any community with 10 or more students speaking a language other than English to establish a separate school, where bilingual teachers would teach classes in English and the language of the community. Challenging French Rights in Alberta and Saskatchewan- They were granted rights to maintain separate schools for French speakers and other languages Devotion to the British Monarch- Canada declared Queen Victoria’s birthday as a national holiday. The Boer War- Dutch settlers resisted assimilation and moved North to create their own settlements.
