Group Inkshed For our group presentation, we collectively agreed that there are some areas of improvement that we can work on for our future projects. Communication was quite proficient however, we did have challenges finding meeting times that the five of us could all meet together. We did attempt common workarounds such as finding times to meet on campus especially on the days that we were all already there. Due to there being 5 of us with different schedules, commitments, and extracurriculars there were not many opportunities to prepare together. There were still gaps within our scheduling therefore the best solution that we often led to was that a member or two missed out on the meeting. It is preferred that each member would be in attendance for the practice and collaboration but we determined that it would be more beneficial to meet with who could make it than not meet at all. Our group was good at communicating, and one thing we did exceptionally well was each member playing to their strengths. Some members preferred the presentation portion of the assignment and speaking to the class; other members preferred to organize documents, do research, and format the PowerPoint. Overall, our personalities and academic goals for this assignment all aligned. While we all acknowledged that we had different schedules that were often hard to coordinate, sometimes the best solution was to work on it separately or when we had time. This could be either a positive or negative in that we had portions where we worked collaboratively and portions where we worked independently. Our group faced challenges in deciding on a topic, as everyone brought unique insights to the table making it difficult to reach a consensus. We also encountered some difficulties with dividing the tasks fairly, as each member wanted to contribute meaningfully to the project. As previously mentioned, many people from our group are very busy people meaning that finding a window where everyone was free was difficult. A positive from our group presentation was its uniqueness. We wanted to do something engaging, fun yet still related to the topic. While it was hard to try and find a silver lining on a very upsetting topic, we managed to make the material somewhat light so people would remain engaged. This is why we did the memory with a neighbour activity. It set the tone for how people feel about trees, and made it more personal. While the activity was a good warm up, we knew it was not enough to only have that one point addressed. So we added a letter to the senate, bill C-226, that not only got the class participating, but made an impact of at least 20 more people petitioning for change. Based on the points listed above, we all believe that our grade range is between 85 and 95 percent. Personal Inkshed My group presented The Importance of Green Spaces and The Issues of Tree Equity. My group consisted of Jenna, Alexandra, Sadie, Greg, and myself; we all collaboratively worked on this presentation and made great efforts to pitch our ideas and build off of each other’s ideas. In the planning stages for the project, we faced challenges deciding on our main focus for the project. Our group knew we wanted to succeed and come up with a topic that showed a positive light on the issue of climate change in tree inequity; in other words, we wanted to direct our focus to the solution of the issue instead of the issue itself. We worked well together; Greg, Jenna, Sade, Alexandra, and I were very supportive of each other's ideas, ensuring that all of our ideas were heard and discussed instead of being pushed aside. Effective communication played a critical role in our success. Despite our busy schedules, we coordinated meetings effectively to ensure everyone could contribute. We met several times to work on the research document, create the slideshow, and rehearse the presentation. These sessions not only helped us refine our content but also strengthened our sense of teamwork and accountability. Overall, I would propose a grade of 88%. This reflects the effort, engagement, and quality of work we brought to the project. However, for future group collaborations, we could focus on improving time management during the initial phases and creating a more organized workflow to prevent potential last-minute stress. In reflecting on my personal performance, I am proud of my contributions to both the research and the presentation delivery. However, I recognize the need to take on more leadership in ensuring our group stays on track. By balancing a supportive and directive role in future projects, I aim to help further enhance group efficiency and output.
