Business Leadership Consequences Of Poor Leadership Consequences Of Poor Leadership Consequence #1: Loss of Morale and Engagement This occurs when a leader is not supportive, does not communicate effectively, or does not provide clear direction. Consequence #2: Decreased Productivity When a leader is not providing clear goals and expectations, team members may become unsure of what they are supposed to be working on, or may not have a clear understanding of how their work fits into the overall goals of the team or organization. Consequence #3: Lack of Trust Poor leadership can lead to a lack of trust among team members. For instance, when a leader is not open about the plans of the team or organization, team members may not trust that the leader knows what they are doing. Consequence #4: Decreased Creativity and Innovation If a leader is too controlling, creates restrictions on flexibility, does not encourage new ideas or does not allow for experimentation and risk-taking, team members may become hesitant to share their creative ideas or take initiative in their work.
