GLOBAL Divide the North and South ANALYZE OF REAL DEMOCRACY AND LIBERTY FROM THE HISTORY OF WHITE AMERICANS VS. BLACK AMERICANS White Americans have had greater access to the full benefits of democracy and liberty, legal protections, voting rights, property ownership, and political representation. From the very beginning of the founding of the nation, White Americans, especially those belonging to European descent, have led in terms of power and privilege and control over governmental and legal systems of the land; however, Black Americans have been subjected to a system of oppression, with denial of rights and injustice. Although slavery was an essential part of early American history, even after its abolition in 1865, Black Americans continued to face laws and social exclusion. For most of the United States' history, Black Americans were denied rights to vote, equal protection of the laws, and educational and economic opportunities and even equal treatment in public life.
