Computer is a machine that manipulates data according to a list of instructions (programs). Computer is any device which aids humans in performing various kinds of computations or calculations. THREE (3) PRINCIPAL CHARACTERISTICS OF COMPUTER: It responds to a specific set of instructions in a well- defined manner. It can execute a pre-recorded list of instructions. It can quickly store and retrieve large amounts of data. APPLICATIONS OF ICT (COMPUTERS) IN OUR DAILY LIVES BUSINESS PUBLISHING WORKING FROM HOME EDUCATION ARTS AND MILITARY HEALTHCARE ENTERTAINMENT SOCIAL AND ROMANCE RETAIL AND TRADE COMMUNICATION BOOKING VACATIONS GOVERNMENT BANKING AND FINANCE SECURITY AND TRANSPORT SURVEILLANCE MARKETING NAVIGATION WEATHER FORECASTING SCIENCE ROBOTICS b) Abacus The Eckert-Mauchly Computer Corporation building, which stood at 3747 Ridge Avenue Philadelphia in the early 1950’s. In America, at the end of the war, John Mauchly and Prosper Eckert joined forces at the Moore School of Engineering of Pennsylvania to develop the ENIAC Computer. Mauchly was what today we would call a “software” guy, and Eckert was the “hardware” guy. Their computer was as big as a house and contained thousands of vacuum tubes. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!
