The word 'Assam' is derived from the Sanskrit word Asoma meaning peerless or unequalled. 3. The state Assam, being T-shaped, is connected with the rest of the Indian Union by a narrow corridor called the Chicken's Neck or Bottle Neck in West Bengal. ## **Geography, Wildlife & History** 4. The Borail range is the highest hill range in Assam, and Laike is the highest peak of Assam. 5.
