Faculty of Engineering Production Technology Assiut National University All Programs 2023/2024 Thursday || 6 June 2024 Final Exam Duration=120 minutes Total Points=50 Attempt all the following questions on the same paper. You may make any reasonable assumptions but state them clearly. No. of pages: 3 - No. of questions: 5 (1) Write the name of each device in the two languages and write down the current reading: [12 Points] (2) Study the shown figure which represents a machining process then answer the following questions: a. What is the name of the machining operation? b. What is the name of the machine tool that can be used? ‫ما اسم الماكينة المستخدمة؟‬ c. Show with free hand sketches how to produce the same product manually. [10 Points] Page 1 of 3 (3) Compare briefly between the following: [8 Marks] a. Tensile strength and yield strength of a material? b. Annealing and normalising. c. Metal casting and metal forming d. Fusion welding and pressure welding. (4) A tensile test uses a test specimen that has an original length ‫ الطول األصلي‬of 50 mm and an area = 200 mm2. During the test the specimen yields under a load of 98,000 N. The corresponding gage length ‫الطول‬ ‫ = ال ُمقاس‬50.23 mm. The maximum load of 168,000 N is reached at a gage length =64.2 mm. Determine: [8 Marks] (a) yield strength, (b) tensile strength. (c) draw the appropriate stress -strain curve of the material.
