What is a health education project? A project to promote an understanding of health - to educate about the growth and development, about physiology and about the factors which may militate against healthy living. (Keith Tones & Louise Davison, 1979) Identification of Health Education projects & target groups  Health educators can operate at 3 equivalent levels in the preventive model: a) Primary level b) Secondary level c) Tertiary level PRIMARY LEVEL Dealing with health groups who may require knowledge and information about health threats to which they are likely to be exposed. SECONDARY LEVEL Dealing with both at risk and ill groups. Those at risk or at higher-than-average risk need more than information as they may be required to change their behavior. They may be influenced by both non-medical health educators and / or the medical and nursing professions. The ill groups are traditionally looked after by medical and nursing personnel.
