Emma and the Neighborhood Mix Part 1: New Faces and Friendly Gestures Emma lives in a small town where houses are close by, creating a strong sense of community. She has always been sociable, so she enjoys chatting with her neighbors. Most people in her neighborhood are friendly, though a handful of neighbors keep themselves to themselves. Last month, Emma got new neighbors in close proximity to her home. One Saturday, she decided to introduce herself, as she often does. She baked cookies and invited Sarah and her family around for dinner. They got along well, and since then, Emma has invited them over a few times. Part 2: Different Neighbors, Different Ways Emma and Sarah sometimes bump into each other on walks, and they enjoy catching up. Once, Emma even offered to keep an eye on Sarah's kids when she needed to nip down to the store. Emma likes knowing her neighbors, but she respects those who prefer to keep to themselves. For example, Mr. Green, who lives further away, is nice but prefers to do his own thing. There’s also Mr. Roberts, who lives nearby but can’t stand anyone knowing his business. He usually keeps to himself, and Emma tries to respect his privacy by putting some distance between them. She knows he doesn’t want anyone to cross paths with him on purpose, so she doesn’t go out of her way to greet him. Despite her friendly attitude, Emma sometimes meets people who are total strangers in the area, and she feels unsure how much to let on about her life. But she still values the neighbors she has come into contact with regularly. Emma knows that every neighborhood has all types, from those who invite you over to those who simply get on with their own lives.
