EMBRYONIC DISC –FATE OF GERM LAYERS DR SHIFAN KHANDAY ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR ANATOMY DIVISION DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES DMCG Time line of development These cells continue to spread separating the two original layers (ectoderm & endoderm) from each other throughout the whole disc except for two points: 1. The bucco-pharyngeal membrane which is situated near the cephalic end. 2. The cloacal membrane which appears near the caudal end of the disc. Each of these two membranes is formed of two layers only, namely the ectoderm and endoderm with no intervening mesoderm.
