Their world was full of diversity, from gigantic herbivores to swift and agile carnivores. They lived on land, and their dominance lasted for millions of years. Diet and Environment Dinosaurs adapted to various environments, from dense forests to arid deserts. Their diet was equally diverse – from leaves and plants for herbivores to the flesh of other animals for carnivores. Eras during the prehistory Geologists are people who study the fossils and dinosaurs' history, helping us understand the different periods in which these reptiles lived many years ago. JURASSIC PERIOD STEGOSAURUS It is known for its rows of large, flat bones along its back and tail. They were huge herbivores of 14,000 pounds. One of their features was their tails, which they used to defend themselves from others. DIPLODOCUS These 60.000 pounds, herbivorous dinosaurs, lived in places with trees. Diplodocus tails were double beam to help them to stand better. ALLOSAURUS These fast, carnivorous, and 40-feet-tall dinosaurs were two-foot professional runners. They lived in semi-arid floodplains and forests. PTERODACTYL These carnivorous reptiles, were the largest flying dinosaurs, meaning that they measured more than 36 feet, without feathers in the wings. It had broad wings and a long beak, and likely fed on fish and small animals. BRONTOSAURUS This 66.5-foot dinosaur was an herbivore that lived on the land. Its special feature was its long neck to reach the trees to gather food. DILOPHOSAURUS These 20-foot-long dinosaurs were some of the best predators from the Jurassic Period, thanks to their double crest on the head. BRACHIOSAURUS It was one of the largest herbivorous dinosaurs, towering over other dinosaurs of its era. Its long neck allowed it to reach high-up leaves, feeding on vegetation that was out of reach for others. CRETACEOUS PERIOD TYRANNOSAURUS REX It is known as the 'king of the lizards', was one of the largest carnivores. It had powerful jaws and sharp teeth, and its strong legs allowed it to run fast. It is huge as 40 feet long and weighed between 11,000-16,000 pounds. VELOCIRAPTOR It was a small but intelligent carnivore. They were two-legged, feathered, carnivorous, 6 feet tall, and fast-running dinosaurs. It had sharp claws on its feet and was one of the most agile dinosaurs. TRICERATOPS The Triceratops, with three horned projections and a large frill on its neck, was a herbivore. Its horns and frill were used for defense against predators. It is 10 feet long. CARNOTAURUS These were big dinosaurs, approximately 25 feet long, with huge teeth and two horns. Their characteristics made them carnivorous. PLESIOSAUR These 43-foot swimmers were long-necked reptiles that lived in the sea and walked on land to breathe air. They are creatures from the ocean. PARASAUROLOPHUS These herbivorous, 33-foot-tall, musician dinosaurs were creatures that had a crest that sounded like elephants, making different noises. DRACOREX Known for its dragon-like appearance with numerous spikes and horns, was a small herbivore. Its unique skull has fascinated scientists and the public alike. ANKYLOSAURUS It was a heavily armored herbivore with a distinctive tail club and known for its protective bony plates.
