تعاريف Disaster threatening or occurring event of such destructive magnitude and force as to dislocate people, separate family members, damage or destroy homes, and injure or kill people Mass Casualty Incident/Event (MCI/MCE) Newer terminology replace the term “disaster” because of the potential for a huge number of victims during certain types of disasters. Incident Command System (ICS) Management tool for organizing personnel, facilities, equipment, and communication for any emergency situation. Disaster Preparedness Activities designed towards minimizing disaster damage, enhancing disaster response and preparing organizations and individuals to respond تعداد Types of Disasters Natural disasters🌪️: floods , tornadoes سالم الدوسري, hurricanes , winter storms, tsunamis, wildfires, windstorms, epidemics , and earthquakes. Man-Made disasters☢️: fires , building collapses, transportation accidents, hazardous materials releases, explosions, domestic acts of terrorism. Infectious Disease 🦠 : any event that involves a biological agent/disease, such as a pandemic, or outbreak of an emerging infectious disease. Disaster Phases تقول سؤال هديه 1. Warning: probability of impending danger 2. Impact: damage occur in the event 3. Isolation: period of time from impact and damage, until outside help arrive 4. Rescue: assistance become available from external source 5. Restoration: emergency operation diminish, and normal function resuming 6. Normal operation: all function return to base line. Component of Disaster Preparedness 1. Obtains information on threat 2. Planning (Hospital Emergency Preparedness Plans) 3. Drill and exercise 4. Training and education 5. Evaluation RAIN system in Obtains information on threat R: Recognizing the hazard or threat A: avoid the hazard or injury I: isolate the hazard area N: notify appropriate support Color- Coded Triage Immediate (red) Delayed (yellow) Minimal (green) Deseased (black) disaster is present when needs exceeds resources ICS function Command centre lead and direct the all facility mobilization and response to an emergency. Incident commander ensuring that the entire response is carried out in an effective Organize and direct Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Give overall direction for hospital operations Command Center Record incident and any other documentation necessary as Recorder directed by the Incident Commander. Logistics Section Chief Organize and direct those operations associated with maintenance of the physical environment and adequate levels of food, shelter and supplies. Nursing Section Chief Organize and coordinate nursing and direct patient care services. Medical Director Collect available physicians and medical staff Credential volunteer medical staff as necessary. Assist of available medical staff as needed. Security Section Chief Coordinate all security operations in support of the disaster situation. Secure all hospital entrances/exits. Control traffic flow. Facilities Management Protect, evaluate, control repair utility systems necessary for and Development patient care in the disaster. Section Chief Implement back-up measures in the event of utility failures Assign Unit Leaders for power, water, electric and medical gases. Finance Administrator Monitor the utilization of Financial assets in support of the emergency operation. Ancillary Service Provide for the optimal functioning of Ancillary Services in Section Chief support of the facility’s medical objectives in the Disaster situation. Disaster Occurs Classification Multiple-patient 1)fewer than 10 casualties 2)usually incident single-hospital response). 3)Common Multiple- 1)Results in 100 or fewer casualties 1)Occurs in mass casualty incident 2)single- or multiple-hospital response transportation and natural 3)Strains but does not overwhelm events such as existing health care facilities floods, tornadoes, 4)Occurs less commonly. hurricanes, snowstorms, fires. 2)Occurs in manmade environmental events such as radiation or biological contamination, or terrorist events Mass casualty 1)more than 100 casualties Occurs earthquakes, volcanic incident (MCI) 2)multiple hospital eruptions, Response structural failures, fires in 3)Significantly overwhelms existing populated areas, certain health care facility. hazardous materials, 4)Occurs least commonly. radiation, chemical, or biological contamination.
