TIME ALLOWED: ONE AND A HALF HOURS (111z) HOURS. COMPULSORY QUESTION 1. a. Use the following business rules to draw a well-labelled entity-relationship diagram using the Chen notation. "A company database needs to store information about employees (identified by unique SSNIT Number, with salary and phone as attributes), departments (with Department Name as its unique field. Its other fields are Number of employees and Budget Allocation), and children of employees (with name and age as attributes). Employees work in departments,' each department is managed by an employee; a child must be identified uniquely by name when the parent (who is an employee; assume that only one parent works for the company) is known. A parent can register as many children as he or she has. We are not interested in information about a child once the parent leaves the company." [10 Marks] b. Distinguish between the following: i. The term Database Management System (DBMS) is used to refer to an organised set of components that define and regulate the collection, storage, management, and use of data within a database environment.
