DAILY ROUTINE LESSON PLAN Lesson Plan: Daily Routines (Teacher-Student One-on-One Zoom Lesson) Learner Level: Very Low Level of English Proficiency Duration: 45 minutes Materials Needed: Video playback capability, digital handouts with exercises, virtual whiteboard (if available) Objectives Activate prior knowledge about daily routines. Introduce and reinforce key phrases related to daily activities. Encourage the student to use the phrases in context through speaking and writing activities. Lesson Outline 1. Warm-Up (5 minutes) Discussion Questions: Ask the student: What is your daily routine? What activities do you do in the morning, afternoon, and evening? Instruction: Note key vocabulary on a virtual whiteboard as the student responds to facilitate understanding. 2. Introduction of Key Phrases (10 minutes) Share pictures of the key phrases for this part and pronounce the phrases together with the student: Make breakfast Take out the garbage Do the laundry Take a nap Take a shower Get dressed Put on make-up Sleep late Matching Exercise: Share a digital handout with the matching exercise (phrases and meanings). Student describes her routine on her own (10 minutes) FOLLOW – UP (IF TIME) Introduce other phrases regarding daily routines: WAKE UP, GET UP, GO TO THE BATHROOM, HAVE A SHOWER, HAVE BREAKFAST, LISTEN TO THE RADIO (WATCH NETFLIX OR ANY OTHER STREAMING SERVICE), GO TO WORK, COME HOME, MAKE DINNER, CALL FRIENDS (CHAT ONLINE WITH MY FRIENDS), WATCH TV, GO TO BED QUESTIONS FOR GUIDED SPEAKING EXERCISE: Sample Questions: Morning Routine: "What time do you usually wake up?" "What do you do after you get up?" "Do you have a shower every morning?" Daytime Activities: "What do you do after breakfast?" "Do you listen to the radio while getting ready for work?" "How do you go to work?" Evening Routine: "What do you like to do when you come home?" "Do you often make dinner or order food?" "What shows do you like to watch on Netflix?" Nighttime Routine: "What time do you usually go to bed?" "Do you call friends before going to bed?" Example Dialogue: Teacher: "What time do you usually wake up?" Student: "I usually wake up at 7:00 AM." Teacher: "What do you do after you get up?" Student: "After I get up, I go to the bathroom and have a shower." Teacher: "What do you like to do in the evening?" Student: "In the evening, I like to watch Netflix and relax." Follow-Up Questions: Ask the student to elaborate on their answers to encourage more detailed responses. For example: "What is your favorite show on Netflix?" "How do you feel about your daily routine?" Wrap-Up: At the end of the activity, encourage the student to summarize their daily routine using the phrases discussed.
