The Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID) will construct the power excavation infrastructure, which includes the offshore substations. Benefits: i.The 1 GW offshore wind projects will produce renewable electricity of about 3.72 billion units annually which will result in an annual reduction of 2.98 million ton of carbon dioxide(CO2) (equivalent emission for a period of 25 years). ii.It will also support the development of the initial 37 GW of offshore wind energy at an investment of about Rs. 4,50,000 crore. Director-General(DG)– Pramod Kumar Tiwari Headquarters– New Delhi, Delhi DoT Introduces New Mobile Number Series For Service & Transactional Calls The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has introduced 160 series for making service and transactional voice calls. It aims to help Indian citizens easily identify legitimate calls and reduce unsolicited calls from telemarketers using the 10 digit mobile numbers. This 160 series will replace the 140 series, which is currently used by telemarketers for making promotional, service, and transactional calls, but the 140 series will continue to be used for promotional calls. The new 160 series will provide a clear differentiation between legitimate service and transactional calls and spammers, making it easier for customers to manage their communication. It will be available for use by all Telecom Service Providers (TSP). The DoT has also proposed that telecom operators should use the Do Not Disturb (DND) feature of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to block unwanted promotional calls.
