Indigenous dances in he Philippines are influenced and molded by various factors, such as, the experiences and events in the community as reflected by the war dances of the people of the mountain province. INTRODUCTIO N With the arrival of colonizers, the dancing tradition and forms changed. Many indigenous ritualistic dances were adapted to be used as vehicles of veneration to the different figures of Christianity. Social dances were influenced by the treds in Europe. examples: pandango, the polka and the balroom dance rigodon de honor. INTRODUCTIO N The American occupation introduced many dance forms. The beginning of contemporary dance the Philippines was exposed to Afro-Cuban dance forms such as tango, samba, mambo, and cha- cha. popular dance crazed from the US like foxtrot, boogie woogie, mashed potato, and twist also found their way to the different INTRODUCTIO N European classical ballet was introduced to the Filipino in the early twentieth century some taught Filipinos ballet and because the first generation of Filipino ballet dancers, teachers, and choreographers. The tradition of passing skills and knowledge is the basis of the continuing development of Philippine contemporary dance. AEROBIC DANCE AEROBIC DANCE a dance routine made into an exercise program. usually accompanied by upbeat pop music. Formal aerobic dance class has three phases: - warm up - aerobic dance - cooldown excercises There were variations of aerobic dancing Ex. jazzercise, aero hiphop, ballroom dancing, belly dancing. BALLET BALLET is both dance and theater art. a style and dance tecnique that follows strict set of moves and performance. originated from Europe. Different contemporary reiterations of ballet form; Modern ballet, opera ballet, folkloric ballet Modern ballet -uses traditional techniques and style. it is a type of modern dance that uses contemporary, and sometimes experimental attitude toward BALLET - The pioneer of modern dance is the Philippines is the founder of ballet Philippines, Alice Reyes(b.1942). ex. Limang dipa, and Beautiful girls BALLET Opera ballet - combines dance and song. - its more modern version is called the rock ballet. ex. Mahal(1975), by Abel Labrador, Mon Faustmann, Rahissa lahat-wala, and julie and rose Borromeo. folkloric ballet - a performance that presents subjects and themes based on the art and culture of a community - ex. Agnes, Tapestry/Bayanihan, and FOLK DANCE FOLK DANCE Is the different dances performed by various cultural groups throughout the country. it changes from region to region. under the category of of folk dances are mimetic dances that are movements imitating animals like the Kadal Bleah of the T’boli. it also depict movements that copy communal activities like planting, and harvesting. these traditional dances have been used by the ethnic groups to celebrate their identity and are based on their literature,legends,and beliefs. STREET DANCE STREET DANCE A term used to describe vernacular dances or dances that developed organically within a community. it began in urban spaces, such as parks, streets, etc. early forms of street dancing gained popularity during the late 1970s. improvisational and social in nature. it encourage interaction with audiences and other dancers. popular street dance moves are hip-hop routines. today this dance form is popular with the youth.
