The motivation comes from passion for the work not the box it comes in Why motivate employees: - The key leadership success is motivating others to do their best - Losing an employee is costly - Motivating the right people to join and remain in the company is a major function of management and can be competitive advantage - People want to feel that their work makes a difference and is appreciated [Motivation:] - The drive to satisfy a need or want that influences how we behave - Comes from within an individual - The job of a manager is to find each workers commitment encourage it and focus it on some common Intrinsic motivation: Personal satisfaction felt when performance is good, and goals are achieved Pride, sense of achievement Extrinsic motivation: Outside recognition of good work Salary increases promotion public recognition Early perspective on motivations: System of management based on 4 principles 1. Developing scientific approach of elements 2. Scientifically selecting and training workers 3. Encouraging cooperation between workers and managers 4.
