Level 5 Conducting a management project Learning Outcome 1.4 Analyse the role of stakeholders involved in the management project LO 1.4 Stakeholders and how to work with them What is a stakeholder? In management research and more broadly, a stakeholder is any individual or group with an interest or stake in a project or decision- making process. Stakeholders can have varying degrees of power and influence, affecting the project's direction and outcomes. They are involved at different levels and stages of decision-making, each with specific lines and limits of authority. Stakeholders play crucial roles in risk management, helping to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks. Agreeing on shared goals is vital, ensuring that all parties are aligned and committed to the project's success. Stakeholders can assume various roles, such as advisors, sponsors, supervisors, or others, depending on their expertise and responsibilities. What is a stakeholder? The RAEW (Responsibility, Authority, Expertise, Work) or RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) frameworks help clarify stakeholder roles and responsibilities. These frameworks ensure that tasks are assigned appropriately and that communication flows smoothly, preventing misunderstandings and ensuring accountability. Over the following pages, you will read more about the importance of stakeholders, how to identify them, and strategies for effective stakeholder management in your projects.
