Church Law - Governs life at the church and is laws about Christian aspects c. School Law - Established in educational institutions to support moral & academic education d. Divine Law - Laws revealed by God and it is Eternal and Unchangeable Ex. 10 Commandments e. Natural Law - Moral code in human nature to guide us to choose Good - Foundation for moral principles LESSON A1. Characteristics of Law A. Ordained to the common good - Directed to goodness B. Promulgated - Made known to everyone C. Reasonable - Rooted in reason, promoting justice & order D. Backed by Authority - Power are derived from authorities, established by given positions E. Binding - Meant to be followed and follow moral obligations LESSON A2. Fraction of Law A. Guide to freedom - protects human freedom B. Promotion of justice - Maintains justice C. Protection of right - safeguard rights of individuals D. Restoration of Order - Legal systems work to order justice E. Education in virtue - Teaches moral principles & Virtues F. Encouragement of good behavior - promotes good behavior LESSON B. Conscience a. Conscience - Present in the hard that guides you in choosing right and avoiding bad and is the most secret core and sanctuary of the person LESSON B1. 2 Dimensions a. Persons basic moral tendency in the depths of a human being - Summons the person to love good and avoid bad b. Practice Moral in the person’s heart - Tells the person at the right moment “Do this, shun that” LESSON B2. Kinds of Conscience 1. Right or true - Judges properly and correctly, 2. Erroneous/False - Turns the good into evil and the evil into good 3. Certain - Has a certain assurance of the goodness or badness of the act 4. Doubtful - Not sure whether his actions are good or bad 5. Reflex - Fear to commit sin in whatever action you take 6. Scrupulous - Always judges something as sinful 7. Callous - Doing too much sin to the point you cannot recognize it anymore LESSON B3. Levels of Conscience 1. Instinctive level - Act is judged based on the reward/punishment 2. Ethical or Moral level - Goodness or evilness of the act upholds your moral alingment 3. Christian or religous stage - Act is a response of faith to God to follow goodness and live a graced life
