Science study notes 2.1 - Life on Planet Earth Planet Earth ⤷ Habitat: A place where an organism lives Types of Habitats: ⤷ Terrestrial (on land) ⤷ Aquatic (in water) The Spheres of Earth Spheres of Earth Examples 1.Atmosphere: Layer of gases surrounding Earth Earth's weather system 2.Lithosphere (Geosphere): Rocks and minerals forming Earth's Himalayan mountain range solid landscape 3.Hydrosphere:Water in all forms (oceans, lakes, ice, rivers) the Great Barrier Reef.Nearly all water on Earth (97%) is contained in the oceans. 4.Biosphere: Most of the easily observed life forms can exist on land Amazon Rainforest and in water, but micro-organisms can exist several kilometers beneath Earth’s surface. All living things need space, water, and nutrients to survive. Earth's Atmosphere Overview ⤷ Composed of 78% nitrogen gas, 21% oxygen gas. ⤷
