COMPUTATIONAL THINKING CHANGING WORLD WEEK 01 – September 10th 2024 TODAY’S TOPIC 01 HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW? 02 GENERATION GAP OF TECH USER 03 TECH USER IDENTITY 04 PRIVACY AND SECURITY 05 FUTURE JOB CHALLENGE 06 COMPUTATIONAL THINKING 01. How much do you think you know? HOW INTERNET WORKS Watch: https://youtu.be/7_LPdttKXPc?si=Qj67c7jfvcUkhUnE Internet is the game changer of current digital era? Do you know how it works? 02. Generation GAP of Tech Users GENERATION GAP Watch: https://youtu.be/TtIojDWOsgg?si=Wn__0tazsRKzYmTc&t=57 Discuss: What is the implication of generation gap to the technology development? HOW ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE? Share your interesting experience of generation gap related to information technology (e.g. in these following aspects) Finance technology skry bisa beli asuransi online > - Service preference Ethical conduct Etc. 03. Tech User Identity DISCUSSION Watch: https://youtu.be/SZAkZ4TzSEA?si=dhbptLCL Osl3AiH5 Please discuss: Do people behave differently online and offline? Why do you think so? How do you think corporations can take advantage of user data? Do you think that is okay? What kind of cyber-crime(s) can happen to tech-user? How to prevent that? 04. Privacy and Security Data Security vs. Data Privacy PRIVACY VS SECURITY Watch: Tech User Identity (Privacy vs Security) 1 https://youtu.be/85mu9PLWCuI?si=2FPUc9dtjr8oK1EC Tech User Identity (Privacy vs Security) 2 https://youtu.be/-g_7MLWLeuI?si=V-USfGEMZUwLSQ43 Have you ever been hacked? ❑ Access https://monitor.firefox.com/ ❑ Input your email address (the one that you use to register accounts at online services) ❑ Check whether your accounts somewhere have been breached by hacker ❑ Be aware that once a service has been breached, it does not necessarily means your information has been all hacked. 05. Future Job Challenges SOME JOBS/ BUSINESSES DID DISAPPEAR Watch: https://youtu.be/jXpfT_QeiJs?si=rBKRf1pd8f8v449g Typist Elevator operator News vendor Film Projectionist Highway gate officer Ticketing agent … What else? 06. Computational Thinking Why do we need computational thinking? Computational Thinking (CT) is a problem solving process that includes a number of characteristics and dispositions. CT is essential to the development of computer applications, but it can also be used to support problem solving across all disciplines, including math, science, and the humanities. ❖ CT isn’t just for computer scientists, it is a broad, structured way of looking at a problem. Even if a person doesn’t know how to program or code a computer – being able to think through a problem in a similar, logical manner and come up with a solution in the digital world is paramount. ❖ CT is so important to enhancing efficiencies and innovation that governments have started to spotlight CT in their re-skilling roadmaps. ❖ CT will be core to future job opportunities. As technology becomes more sophisticated and pervasive we need to understand how to collect data, filter it. We also need to know where to find what we want and how we can use it in decision making. People need to be confident enough to face problems head on and have the ability to work out logical solutions. COMPUTATIONAL THINKING 1. Decomposition : breaking down a complex problem or system into smaller, more manageable parts 2. Pattern Recognition: looking for similarities among and within problems 3. Abstraction: focusing on the important information only, ignoring irrelevant detail 4. Algorithms: developing a step-by- Watch: https://youtu.be/qbnTZCj0ugI? step solution to the problem, or the si=O1d1sD-zh521DdXK rules to follow to solve the problem So… How much do you know? THANKS!
