**Catholic Virtues Study Guide** -- Test 9/26 A **virtue** is a habitual and firm disposition to do good. To build virtue is to build good habits. Two types of virtues **Cardinal** and **Theological** A **cardinal virtue** are spiritual habits that grow within us when we cooperate with God's grace. A **theological virtue** directly relates us to God. We receive these virtues at baptism. **Theological Virtues** **Charity** (Love)- Love God above all things and love others. Example Mother Teresa **Hope**- A gift from God and leads us back to God **Faith**- a belief in God **Cardinal Virtues** **Prudence**- helps us recognize right from wrong. **Justice**- helps us to see what is fair and reasonable. **Temperance**- helps us practice self-control. **Fortitude**- helps us to have courage to face challenges. **Scenarios:** Student will watch a short scenario, and they will identify the virtue to match. **Example:** Lord of the Rings: (Sam and Frodo) Sam shows Fortitude to achieve the goal. He was a friend and help Frodo get rid of the ring that was making him sick. Sam had courage and help his friend.
