1. Click the element you want to edit. One or more color tiles will appear on the toolbar above the editor, depending on how many colors the selected element has. 2. Click the color tile of the color that you want to change. Your document colors and other suggestions will appear. If you previously created color palettes, they’ll be shown as well. 3. To apply a color to the selected element, click a color from the options shown from the color panel. 4. To choose a different color, click the Add a new color tile from the color panel. Drag the circle to select the new color. You can enter the hex color code from here. You can also use gradients. 5. To pick a color from your design, after clicking on the rainbow tile, click Eyedropper and hover your mouse over the part of your design whose color you want to use. Click on the part to apply the color. Note: The eyedropper color picker is only available on Google Chrome and Edge web browsers and the Canva computer app. 1. On the editor menu bar, click Present. If you don’t see it, click on Share first, and then look for the Present option. 2. Select a presentation type from the options. Learn more about the different presentation modes. 3. Click Present. To exit presentation mode, press ESC on your keyboard or click Exit full screen on the bottom corner of the screen. Use responsive presentation templates to present decks and presentations both on mobile devices and on bigger screens. Use the left and right arrows to change slides. You can also add an interactive layer to your presentations by setting up Canva Live. Canva Live lets your audience ask you questions while you present. Live edits during a presentation While presenting, edits made in the editor are shown in real-time. The presentation will refresh each time an edit is made while still showing the slide you left off. Select More then select Hide live edits to disable showing real-time edits. Navigating pages during a presentation While presenting, at the bottom left corner click the Go to page button and type the page number you want to present. Shortcuts Mac: Option + Command + G Windows: Alt + Ctrl + G Magic Shortcuts™ When presenting, press the following keys on your keyboard for fun animations. This service is currently only available when presenting on a computer. Letter B to blur the current slide Letter C for confetti rain Letter D for a drumroll animation Letter M for a mic drop animation Letter O for floating bubbles Letter Q for quiet Letter U for a curtain call animation Any number (0-9) for a timer (1 for one minute, 2 for two minutes, etc.) You can also press Shift + / or ? on your keyboard to open the Magic Shortcuts™ menu. Timer with Music Play music while using a timer This feature is currently only available on a computer. After pressing any number for a timer, hover your cursor over the timer for the options to pop up. Click Music to select music. Choose between Focus, Dramatic, Upbeat, or Energetic. Click Volume to adjust the volume. Click Minimize to minimize the timer. Remote Control Allow multiple presenters to control slides in real-time with Remote Control. This feature can only be set up when presenting on a computer. Setting up a remote session 1. On the editor menu bar, click Present. If you don’t see it, click on Share first, and then look for the Present option. 2. Click Present. 3. On the bottom corner of the screen, click on the More icon. 4. Click on Share remote control. 5. To give control to other presenters, scan the QR code or click Copy link. A shareable link will be copied to your clipboard, which you can share with the presenters. 6. To pause or resume other presenters’ control, click on Pause controls or Resume. Tip: Set up a remote session before you begin your presentation to give other presenters time to connect. Using the Remote Control 1. Open or paste the share link into a browser on any device. 2. Use the left and right arrows to change slides. Make sure the status says Connected to control the slides. Offline presenting Enable your designs for offline presenting to present without an internet connection. Read our Present offline article to learn more. 1. On the Canva homepage under the search bar, click Video. 2. Hover your mouse over the video type that you want to create, and click Browse templates to see the available templates. 3. To preview one, hover your mouse over it and click the that appears. Select Preview this template. 4. To use the template, select Customize this template. You’ll then be taken to the editor. Replacing videos on templates Search our video library, upload your own, or record a video to replace the videos in your selected template. See Adding and replacing videos on designs to learn more. Enabling captions on videos If you'd like to improve your videos and make them accessible to everyone, you can add captions. See Enabling captions on videos and audio for the detailed steps. Trim or lengthen videos 1. On your design, click on the video you want to edit. 2. On the toolbar above the editor, click the icon. You’ll see highlighted and grayed out parts of your video above the editor. 3. Drag any of the sliders on the ends of the highlighted part of the video to shorten or lengthen it. 4. Click on Done to save. 5. Trim videos instantly 6. Save time on finding key moments in your videos. Auto-trim or Highlight analyzes and instantly trims your videos to their most interesting parts. 7. Auto-trim 8. On your design, click on the video you want to edit. 9. On the toolbar, click the trim icon. 10. Select Auto-trim for a single-trim to tidy the start and end of your video. 11. Wait for a confirmation that trimming has been applied. Highlights 1. On your design, click on the video you want to edit. 2. On the toolbar, click the trim icon. 3. Select Highlights to trim your video into multiple short clips. 4. On the right-side panel, select the clips you’d like to keep. Choose in the order that you’d like them to appear. 5. Click Add to highlights. The clips will be placed on the timeline as separate pages/elements. If you’d like to adjust the results from Auto-trim or Highlights, you can still manually trim your video (see previous section). Change video scene duration When using video templates, scenes will follow the longest clip on a page. For example, if you have an 11.0s video on your page, the scene will also be 11.0s long. Refer to these parts of the video editor for the steps on how to change scene duration below: 1. On your timeline at the bottom of the editor (see screenshot above), click to select the scene you want to edit. 2. Hover your mouse cursor over it. Trim handles will appear. 3. Drag them to shorten or lengthen the scene. Navigating the video timeline Jump on accurate parts of your video by pressing the arrow keys on your keyboard. Right arrow key - Jump forward Left arrow key - Jump backward Hold the shift key while pressing the arrow keys to move faster. I don’t see a video timeline in the editor This means you’re not using a video template. No worries though as you can still edit your design like a video. If you’re looking for a transition, our using page transitions article can help you with that. Applying animations 1. Click to select the page or element that you want to animate. 2. On the toolbar above the editor, click on Animate. Animation options will show on the side panel. 3. To apply an animation to your selected page, choose from the Page Animations tab. 4. To apply an animation to your selected element, choose from the Element Animations, Photo Animations, or Text Animations tab. The available tabs will depend on your selected element. 5. Toggle the Appear on click switch button to control the animation when presenting. 6. Choose between the different styles of animations and motion effects. 7. To preview an animation, hover your mouse cursor on it. 8. To apply an animation, click on it. You can also combine General or Suggested animations with Add-on effects. Mix and match different styles to see which styles suit your design best. Note that the available animation styles depend on whether you’ve selected a text, graphic, shape, photo, or video. More animations and transitions are available to Canva Pro, Canva Teams, Canva for Education, and Canva for Nonprofits users. They’re tagged with a icon from the options. Changing or removing animations 1. Click to select the page or element. 2. On the toolbar above the editor, click on the icon. Animation options will show on the side panel. 3. To change animations or motion effects, simply click on a different one from the options. 4. To remove animations or motion effects, click Remove animation at the bottom of the side panel. Changing the timing of animations DesktopDesktop MobileMobile Through on-click If you have toggled the Appear on click setting, you can change the order of animations. 1. Under the Presentation settings, click Click order. 2. Drag and drop each element to your preferred order (first to last) using the drag handles. Through show element timing You can show element timing and change the timing of animations. 1. Select the element where you have applied animation. 2. In the floating toolbar, click More. 3. Select Show element timing. The element timing will appear in the thumbnail view below the editor where you can change the timing of animations. 4. To arrange the order in which the animations appear, drag and drop each element tile to your preferred order (first to last). 5. To modify the duration (in seconds) of the animations, use the side handles to drag the duration from left to right. How can I share designs with animations? You can download animated designs as videos or GIFs. You can also directly share them on social media, or schedule them for later. Creating animations Note: Each animation can only be 10 seconds long at the maximum. A design can have a maximum of 50 animations created. DesktopDesktop MobileMobile 1. Click to select the page or element you’d like to animate. 2. On the toolbar above the editor, click on the Animate icon. Animation options will show on the side panel. 3. Select Create an animation under the Photo animations or Element animations tab. 4. Click and drag the element or photo to create your animation. 5. Choose your preferred movement style and adjust the speed accordingly. You can also toggle Orient element to Path. 6. Click Done to save your animation, or Delete to remove it. Animation Sequence Bring your designs to life with one-click animations. Use the Animation editing panel to control their sequence. DesktopDesktop MobileMobile 1. Drag your cursor over the elements you want to group. You can also hold Shift on your keyboard, and click on multiple elements to select them. 2. On the floating toolbar, click Group. 3. On the toolbar above the editor, click on the Animate icon. Animation options will show on the side panel. 4. Select Create an animation under the Element animations or Group animations tab. 5. Choose your preferred movement style and adjust the speed accordingly. 6. To manage the sequence in your design, toggle the Appear on click switch button and then select Click order.
