# Grade 9 English Exam Review ## Part A: Multiple Choice Questions You will be asked 35 questions. Things to review: - Unit 1 Short Stories Vocabulary (Setting, Mood, First Person, Second Person, Third Person), Figurative Language (Metaphor, Alliteration, Simile, Personification, etc). - Hunger Games (You will be asked questions on the plot). - Romeo and Juliet (You will be asked questions on the plot of the play and quotes. Use your package to help with this). ## Part B: Literary Essay on either _The Hunger Games_ or _Romeo and Juliet_. - You will be asked a question based on _The Hunger Games_ and a question on _Romeo and Juliet_. - You will only be answering one. To prepare for this section of your exam, revisit your notes from these units and come up with a list of possible essay topics/questions. Key in on themes, character development, Catholic Graduate Learning expectations, and Catholic Social Teachings. Once you have a list of possible essay topics, it is highly recommended that you practice writing an outline for at least two of them. Ensure that you have thesis statements, statements of your main point/argument, and topic sentences/concluding sentences for the outlines that you develop. ## Part C: Read News Article and Answer Questions You will be asked to read a short article and show that you understand its main point as well as the people involved and the motivations behind their actions (e.g. who, what, where, when, why?).
